3 day Byron Hinterland Hike

Join us for an unforgettable 3 day hiking experience in the amazing Byron Bay and the Hinterland. On this journey you will walk 32km, on 3 separate walks, in World Heritage National Parks, and experience, 4 forest types that represent this biodiversity hotspot. including a walk with local Arakwal woman Aunty Delta. All our guides are very experienced and really know their stuff. You will stay luxury 4 star eco cottages, situated in the middle of Nightcap National Park. The food is catered for using local produce.
Day OneWe will pick you up from your Byron Bay accommodation and local Arakwal woman Delta Kay will welcome you to country and lead you on a 5km walk around Cape Byron (Walgun), telling her stories of what it was like to grow up in this iconic place, and sharing local bush tucker.
We will then drive 45 minutes to Nightcap National Park and do the 5km Blue Fig Trail Walk. Where you'll walk through, subtropical rainforest, dry/wet sclerophyll and see a creek and waterfall.
We will continue on to your accommodation nestled in the Byron Hinterland. Dinner will be locally sourced and will include beer and wine.
Day twoAfter your locally sourced breakfast, we will drive for 1 hour drive to Mount Nardi. For the trail head of the 19km (6.5 hours) Nightcap Historic Track. This walk starts at 850m and finishes at 350m but there are up and down sections on the way. This track is significant for many reasons, it was used by the Widjabul people and is said the Cleverman could be found at Dirangah Rocks, which are impressive eroded volcanic vents. It was also used as the old Postmans Track from Nimbin to Murwillumbah. Along the way you will see; many forest types, magnificent vistas of the tweed caldera and the old postmans tree (where he used to sleep on his journey). You will have lunch your locally sourced lunch on the track. The hike finishes at Rummery park which is a 2 minute drive from Nightcap Ridge.
If 19km is too much for you we can offer you an alternative 5 km (2 hours) Boggy Creek Walk. This walk will start at Rummery Park, where you will follow the creek all the way to Minyon Falls, then head back to along the escarpment on the eastern boundary trail back to Rummery Park.
Dinner will be locally sourced and will include beer and wine.
Day ThreeAnother early start, after your locally sourced breakfast, and pack up all your gear. We will drive to Minyon Falls. We will then do the 8km km hike to Minyon Grass, walking through a forest of giant strangler fig, brush box and blackbutt, to the bottom on Minyon Falls (the tallest waterfall in the hinterland), have our lunch, before we will then walk through some lowland subtropical rainforest, then back up the hill to Minyon Grass.
About 4pm we will then drop you back off at Byron Bay or at the airport.
